Raasay 'The Draamer's Cask' #5 (ex-Tawny Port Barrique finish)

£95.00Price

THE HOLY SPIRITS VIEW

A genuine first for Isle of Raasay — their debut Port cask release, and a proper rarity at just 253 bottles. Pairing their punchier peated spirit with Bordeaux and Tawny Port in succession is the kind of layered cask work that separates a serious single cask from an ordinary limited edition.

THE DISTILLERY

Isle of Raasay Distillery, founded in 2017 on the Inner Hebridean island of the same name, was the first legal distillery Raasay has ever had. Built on water from its own well, peated and unpeated spirit are matured separately across a handful of unusual cask types before being married or bottled solo — a recipe with real range built in from day one.

THE WHISKY: THE DRAAMERS' CASK #5

Raasay's first-ever Port cask release. Their peated spirit was matured first in an ex-Bordeaux red wine barrique, then finished a further twelve months in an ex-Tawny Port barrique. Bottled at natural cask strength — 58.6% ABV, natural colour, non-chill filtered — with just 253 bottles produced.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Redcurrant, blackberry jam and smoked orange.

Palate: Rich, juicy red fruits and dark cherry.

Finish: Toasted fig, blackcurrant, and a smoky Ribena character that closes things out.

Serve: Neat, in a Glencairn glass — the cask strength has room for a few drops of water if you want the fruit to open further, but there's plenty of balance to enjoy it exactly as bottled.
