Mossburn Ephemera The Quadrilogy
(61.5%, 70cl)
Legend has it that Imperator Caesar Marcus Aurelius Mausaeus Carausius, the self-titled Roman Invincible Augustus proclaimed himself Emperor of the North in 286, with help from a supposed alliance with the Picts and Scots and rode in a fearsome quadriga chariot when defeating the incumbent Roman governor, Quintus Bassianus, in a battle fought near York.
We celebrate the feats of this past King of Britain with our own Quadrilogy of all the fours; four single grain whiskies distilled in four different distilleries from four different decades, aged in four different cask types. First-fill Bourbon casks are balanced by a judicious addition of whiskies aged in refill Whisky and French Sauternes Sweet Dessert Wine and French Red Wine barrels.
TASTING NOTES
Nose: Rich, unctuous oiliness with a peach undertone. Creamy dairy toffee
Palate: Well balanced, an elegant richness with overt honey and nuts, hints of peaches and apricots
