Drawn from hand-picked cask No. 216, a First Fill Ex Buffalo Trace barrel, the whisky is 8 years of age and bottled at 58% abv. Expect creamy rice pudding, vanilla pods and buttery caramels to the fore on the nose. Nostalgic rock candy and cream soda follow with a touch of clove spice, developing into a lingering perfume of windowsill flowers on a sunny day.
On the palate the dram is aromatic and gently spiced along with the tang of dried apricots. Enjoy neat, then add a drop of water to release the lingering but subtle peat smoke.
