First of all thank you so much for reading this and indeed for coming to see me in the shop (if you haven’t yet, consider this an invitation).
I’m thrilled to annouce that the 1st tasting masterclass will aptly take place on the 25th January – Burns Night for any whisky drinker’s calendar and indeed one of my favorite days of the year.
On this tasting sesssion we’ll be opening 3 superb whisky choices that are ALL ABOUT THE MALT, choices that are indeed a powerful & fruity enough match to the earthy character of a properly cooked haggis, but also a trio that pairs beautifully with proper chocolate – another treat that we’ll savour on the night in the shape of 3 uniquely crafted chocolate bonbons, courtesy of my friend Jacques from CocoCaravan, in Stroud – who will join us for the event.
The whiskies we’ll be tasting are:
- RedBreast 12yo Cask Strength 2021: One of Ireland’s most awarded whiskies, this triple-distilled bottling uses both malted and unmalted barley aged in both ex-Bourbon American Oak and Oloroso Sherry butts from Spain. A joy to behold.
- Bruichladdich “the Organic” 2011: a single-farm, 100% organic unpeated barley malt from the Isle of Islay. Bottled at 11yo, ex-Bourbon casks. A very hard one to put down once you've had your 1st sip.
- Daftmill 15yo Cask Strength: from Scotland’s “Cult” single farm estate distillery, a most singular whisky made using “Chariot” Barley harvested on 31st August 2004 and distilled in 2006. One of the most elegant whiskies made anywhere in the world, this is a real treat.
Tickets are £20 per head and only 8 spaces are available.
