Williamson 2013 11yo Oloroso Cask #213 Berry Bros & Rudd

A lovely release of Williamson by Berry Brothers and Rudd, who present us with their 'Coast and Shores' series. This one comes from the rocky shores of Islay and shares its name with the legendary distillery manager of Laphroaig, Bessy Williamson. Distilled in 2013, it underwent a finish in an Oloroso cask no. #213 and was then bottled into a total of 307 bottles at cask strength of 59.3% ABV. 
 
Distilled in 2013 and bottled in 2024, the nose opens with opulent notes of dried fruits and sherry-soaked raisins, underscored by hints of brine, seaweed, and iodine
These aromas meld into a rich wave of dark chocolate and dried figs, leading to a crescendo of peat smoke - robust and medicinal, yet gracefully mellowed by the Oloroso cask's touch
This introduces sumptuous undertones of black cherries, leather, and a whisper of treacle. The finish resonates with lingering echoes of smoky embers, rounded off by a delicate whisper of salted caramel
